Australian trade mission to Cuba

Australian business may have a new market in Cuba, with a trade delegation seeking to seize on the restoration of diplomatic ties.

Trade envoy Andrew Robb is leading Australia's first trade delegation to Cuba, hot on the heels of a visit by US President Barack Obama.

The delegation will be targeting the mining and energy, agriculture and tourism sectors.

The delegation will meet Cuban government officials and local businesses to seek commercial ties.

Mining and energy, technology, agriculture, tourism and medical services are just some of the Australian industries which could benefit.

"Australia is an early mover when it comes to engaging new markets in which to do business," Mr Robb said in a statement.
