Australian nurse evacuated to UK after Ebola scare

An Australian nurse in Sierra Leone treating Ebola patients has been taken to the UK after she accidentally breached personal protection protocols while working at the Australian-run Aspen Medical clinic.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) described the incident as low-risk and the woman has not been diagnosed with Ebola.
The evacuation has been described as a precautionary measure.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said she was “concerned” for the welfare of the nurse.
"I thank the UK government and health authorities for their cooperation and support in this matter," she said in a statement,” she said in a statement.
"I am concerned for the welfare of the Australian nurse and acknowledge the work of all the Aspen Medical staff delivering Australia's Ebola contribution in Sierra Leone."
The clinic has a capacity of 38 beds and has now treated 57 patients.
Australia's total contribution to the Ebola response is at $45 million, including $23 million to manage and staff the Ebola Treatment Centre in Sierra Leone.
