Ross Higgins, who voiced Louie the Fly in the Mortein commercials, has died. (AAP) 

Australian actor Ross Higgins, known for his comedic role as Ted Bullpitt in the ‘Bullpitt’ and ‘Kingswood Country’ series, has died aged 86.

The radio and TV star was also known for his radio character action and voiceover work for Louie the Fly in the Mortein commercials, as well as his performance in ‘The Naked Vicar Show’ alongside colleague Kevin Golsby.

Family friend and former colleague Tony Sattler told the ABC Higgins died after spending weeks in hospital due to unspecified illness.
