New post service promises next-day delivery for online shopping
Australia Post has launched a new service that will aim to guarantee next-day delivery for online shoppers in our biggest cities.
Australia Post Metro has launched in metropolitan Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and will expand further in coming months.
So far, the service is linked to "select" retailers, but Australia Post said more would come onboard over the coming weeks and months.

Australia Post cited data suggesting that 68 per cent of online shoppers were inclined to break off their shopping if they thought the delivery would be too slow.
Australia Post Group CEO Paul Graham said next-day delivery was becoming increasingly important, with one third of retail dollars projected to be spent online in the next 10 years.
"We've been listening to our customers, and know they expect more certainty, simplicity and speed when ordering online," Graham said.

The service will at first only be available in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Australia Post
He said retailers in the "lifestyle, fashion, beauty and FMCG (fast moving consumer goods)" areas were already using the Metro service.
"To support this new service and ensure we meet the next-day delivery offering we have simplified our back-end systems to quickly identify the Australia Post Metro service orders, prioritising them for next day delivery," Graham said.
"We have also been working in tandem with our retailers to ensure their distribution centres are set up to prioritise Australia Post Metro service orders."

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said it was essential for postal services to keep pace with customer demands.
"It's pleasing to see Australia Post launching this new Australia Post Metro product, and I look forward to seeing it expanded following the current trial," she said.
Myer executive general manager of supply chain Tony Carr said the new service would be important heading into the year's busiest trading months pre-Christmas.
