Aust-US relation strong even with Trump:PM

Malcolm Turnbull is confident Australia's relations with the US won't wane even if Donald Trump becomes president.

The prime minister refused to comment on the US presidential race, with the outspoken billionaire the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, saying it's a matter for the American people to decide.

"Whether its Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton or somebody else who is president of the United States, the one thing that I know will be in very good shape during and after the next presidency will be the Australian and American alliance," Mr Turnbull told Hobart radio 7HO Thursday.
