Australia is "very close" to start shipping live cattle to China.
Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce was in discussions with officials on Wednesday morning ahead of the formal signing of a free-trade agreement between the two nations in Canberra.
"I don't want to put a time limit on it but ... it's going to be in the near future, closer than I expected," Mr Joyce told reporters on Wednesday.
