Aust at risk over company tax: Morrison

Treasurer Scott Morrison says Australia is at "great risk" of being uncompetitive with company tax rates in the UK and US potentially dropping.

The UK was heading towards a tax rate of 17 per cent and the Trump administration was flagging 15 per cent.

"We are at great risk if we are unable to keep down the trajectory we want to go down of having Australian businesses stranded in a high tax environment country, where other businesses in the UK and in the United States enjoy much lower tax rates," he told ABC's 730 program.

Mr Morrison spruiked the coalition's company tax plan, saying it would enable businesses to give workers more hours.

That would therefore raise more tax.

"The way you boost your revenue is you help Australians and Australian businesses earn more."
