Aussie women skydive into record books

Ten Australian women took a leap of faith earlier this month when they jumped out of a plane in California in a bid to smash the world record for the largest all-female skydive formation.

Melissa Harvie and Helen Mahony appeared on the TODAY show this morning to talk about breaking the record with more than 100 other skydiving women from across the globe.

"We came from 24 countries to a lot of it came down to translation and language and actually understanding what needed to done," Ms Harvie said.

The previous record was for 110 people.

Ms Harvie said it was a "fantastic achievement" and there was a huge party after to celebrate.
