Aussie promoted to Mid East peace posting

The United Nations has promoted an Australian to a senior position within the Middle East peace process.
Robert Piper has been appointed a deputy special co-ordinator and will serve also as a humanitarian co-ordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Mr Piper, a graduate of Australian National University, has 25 years experience working for the UN in peace building, conflict prevention and disaster reduction roles.
