Aus man arrested in Philippines over death

A Melbourne man recently arrested in the Philippines on child sex abuse charges is also now implicated in a child's death.

The remains of a 12-year-old girl have been found at a home formerly rented by Peter Gerald Scully, an Australian who has reportedly lived in the Philippines since 2011.

In 2014, Scully was charged with human trafficking and child porn-related offences arising from his alleged sexual abuse of Filipino girls and videos posted online.

He had evaded capture until a week ago and, after his arrest, a former partner told police Scully had killed one of his child victims in 2013.

It is understood Scully may also have outstanding fraud charges in Australia.

The Australian Federal Police has confirmed they were aware of Scully's arrest, though the investigation rests with Philippine authorities.
