August Lone Pine service cancelled

A commemorative service scheduled to mark the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Lone Pine in Gallipoli has been cancelled in the wake of Turkey's coup attempt.
Veterans Affairs Minister Dan Tehan says Turkish authorities had asked Australia to reconsider the August 6 event and a decision was made by the two governments not to proceed with it.
Mr Tehan said the Turkish Government and its people were generous hosts of Australia's various commemorations at Gallipoli, and the government respected their request.
