Asian students hurt in Perth bus rollover

More than a dozen Malaysian and Indonesian teenagers who were on their way to a camping trip have been injured in a bus rollover northeast of Perth.

Emergency crews were called to the vicinity of Spring Road and Toodyay Road in Gidgegannup just after 7.30pm (WST) on Wednesday.

Police said it appeared the 51-year-old driver, from Perth's northern suburbs, lost control of the bus and it careered into a drainage ditch.

The bus was on its way to Lake Leschenaultia for a camping trip, carrying 23 Malaysian and Indonesian nationals, 13 of them aged between 10 and 12.

Police said all passengers were taken to hospitals around the metropolitan area for observation, and three suffered injuries including suspected broken bones.

Although the injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life threatening.

Police said their investigation into the crash was ongoing and they would examine whether fog was a factor.
