Origin star latest to be charged over Titans cocaine scandal

Former Queensland Origin star Ashley Harrison has become the latest NRL identity to be linked to the growing Gold Coast Titans cocaine scandal.

Harrison, who played for the Gold Coast Titans, Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs, will face court next month after being charged with supplying cocaine, News Corp has reported.

A warrant has also been issued for former Titan Steve Michaels, who is playing in the English Super League.

It is understood Harrison will face court on March 9.

They are the seventh and eighth current or former Titans players to be charged, with others including stars Dave Taylor and Greg Bird.

Harrison retired last year after playing for the NRL since 2000.

He played the last six years of his career with the Titans and was a Queensland Origin regular.

The CCC said in a statement that today's announcement would be the last in relation to this investigation.

"The CCC understands a number of organisations and individuals have been the subject of speculation that they are possible targets of this ongoing CCC investigation," the statement said.

"The CCC has decided it is in the public interest to confirm that based on evidence currently available to the CCC, it does not expect to make any further arrests of current or former sportspeople as a result of its ongoing investigation into the cocaine trafficking syndicate."
