Ash cloud grounds more Bali flights

More flights to and from Bali have been cancelled as an ash cloud from the Mount Raung eruption drifts towards Denpasar airport.

Jetstar has cancelled at least six flights and Virgin has cancelled at least 10. Several others have been delayed or rerouted.

"We regret the impact these cancellations and delays are having on our passengers, particularly during the busy school holiday period, but we will always put safety before schedule," a Jetstar spokesman said.

Virgin says its meteorologists are monitoring the situation in consultation with the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre.

Passengers hit by the cancellations are being offered a range of rebooking and refund options.

It comes after several flights were grounded by the ash cloud on Thursday.

JETSTAR FULL STATEMENT

Jetstar has today cancelled or delayed a number of flights in and out of Bali as the ash cloud from the Mount Raung eruption in Indonesia drifts again towards Denpasar International Airport.

We regret the disruption this weather event has caused our passengers and thank them for their patience as we work to provide alternative options.

As a result of this movement, the following Jetstar flights have been cancelled:

• JQ110/109: Perth-Denpasar (4 July) / Denpasar-Perth (4 July)

• JQ47: Brisbane-Denpasar (4 July)

• JQ44: Denpasar-Melbourne (4 July)

• JQ7038: Denpasar-Sydney (4 July)

• JQ37: Sydney-Denpasar (4 July)

The following flights are currently delayed pending further assessment early this evening:

• JQ35/36: Melbourne-Denpasar (4 July) / Denpasar-Melbourne (4 July)

• JQ106/105: Perth-Denpasar (4 July) / Denpasar-Perth (4 July)

The following flights are currently on schedule pending further assessment early this evening:

• JQ 127/128: Adelaide-Denpasar (4 July) / Denpasar-Adelaide (4 July)

All passengers on rescheduled or cancelled flights will be notified by Jetstar or their Travel Agent directly and provided with options to fly on alternative services.

Options are available to Jetstar customers holding a valid ticket issued on 4 July 2015 or 5 July 2015 who are affected by this weather event in Indonesia.

Please contact Jetstar within seven (7) days of your original flight date to either:

• Rebook your travel on an alternative flight between the same destinations on your original booking departing within seven (7) days of the intended travel date free of charge.

• Rebook your travel on an alternative flight between the same destinations on your original booking departing after seven (7) days of the intended travel date and we will waive the charge fee and you will pay the fare difference.

• Request a refund in Jetstar travel vouchers to the value of the fare purchased on the original affected flight. Travel vouchers are valid for six months.
