Man charged over string of alleged car fires, including firebombing of Rabbi's car

Police will allege a car adorned with Hanukkah decorations that went up in flames in Melbourne was one of a series of alleged arson attacks linked to the same offender, after charges were laid.
A Rabbi's car displaying a Happy Hanukkah sign was allegedly firebombed in his driveway on Balaclava Road in St Kilda East about 2.50am on December 25.
No one was inside the car at the time of the fire, but a woman and three children were evacuated from the home as a precaution.

Detectives, including members of the Fugitive Squad team, arrested a 47-year-old man on Victoria Street in Richmond around 9am this morning.
He was this afternoon charged with 20 offences, including six counts of arson, six counts of shop-steal/theft, three counts of obtaining property by deception and two counts of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
He is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
The arrest comes almost two weeks after police revealed details about a man they wished to speak to in relation to their investigation.
