Armed men rob Victorian taxi driver

Two men armed with a gun and a knife have robbed a cabbie of his cash, wallet and mobile phone in an early morning attack in Melbourne.

The 26-year-old male taxi driver from Clayton South had been called to Mill Park, a suburb in Melbourne's north-east, about 3.15am (AEDT) on Sunday.

Two men with their faces covered approached the taxi, opened the driver's door and threatened him.

They demanded cash while brandishing a firearm and a knife.

The driver handed over cash, his wallet and a mobile phone before the men fled in a dark coloured sedan waiting nearby.

The driver was not hurt.
