Apprentice, trainee numbers drop: data

Fewer people are undertaking apprenticeships or traineeships.

New data shows there were 295,300 people training at the end of September 2015, a drop of 13.7 per cent compared to the same time in 2014.

The drop is being attributed to the subdued labour market and uncapping of university places.
