Ever wanted to live blog with an Aussie digger fighting in the trenches of Gallipoli?

That's one of the ways the State Library of NSW will bring to life hundreds of diaries and letters from Australian soldiers who fought in World War I.

The library is working with News Corp on sharing those stories across the company's network of newspapers and websites.

One feature will allow online viewers to put questions to Australian troops who fought in WW1, with the website generating answers from real diary entries.

News Corp and the State Library are also calling on modern day diggers who fought in recent conflicts such as the Afghan and Iraq wars to share their stories with the project.

They hope to receive tweets, Facebook posts and emails from those troops while they were on duty.
