Nicole Kidman's father Dr Antony Kidman dies
Nicole Kidman's father has died in a tragic accident.
Dr Antony Kidman was in Singapore visiting his other daughter, journalist and TV presenter Antonia, and is believed to have had a fall and died suddenly.
Dr Kidman was a well-respected psychologist and Director of the Health Psychology Unit at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.
He was awarded an Order of Australia medal in January, 2005 for his services to health.
Dr Kidman authored several books on mental health, including 2011's Staying Sane In The Fast Lane, which focused on the effects of technology on daily life.
He was also a regular speaker on television and radio.
Wife Janelle Kidman is a former nursing teacher.
Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967, while her parents were studying abroad.
The family moved to Sydney's North Shore when the actress was four.
