Man jailed for bashing and robbing elderly woman who later died
A western Sydney man who bashed and robbed his elderly neighbour two years ago, could walk free in two-and-a-half years.
Anita Christanga died months after the man broke into her home in January 2017 and viciously bashed her while she was asleep upstairs.
The despicable act was only discovered when the bruised and bloodied 78-year-old went into her bank to report that her credit card had been stolen.

Her attacker, who is now 21, had his identity suppressed by a magistrate after he was attacked while in jail awaiting sentencing.
"We've got nothing, and what he comes out in two-and-a-half years with a life still ahead of him?" Ms Christanga's distraught son Samuel said outside court.
"He has injured an elderly lady in her own home – who does that?"
Today he was sentenced to eight years jail with a minimum of five years and six months.
With time already served he will be eligible for parole in 2022.
