Animal waste to help in cutting emissions
AAP
Piggeries and dairies can get taxpayer money for projects that reduce methane emissions through treating animal waste.
Animal effluent management has been added to approved projects under the federal government's Emissions Reduction Fund, which is the centrepiece of the coalition's climate policy.
The Clean Energy Regulator says the management method gives piggeries and dairies an incentive to set up new facilities to treat waste by either capturing methane in a tank or removing methane emissions by removing solids.
