Australian man jailed in Singapore for wine bottle killing
An Australian man has been sentenced to more than five years in a Singaporean jail after he threw a wine bottle off an apartment balcony, killing a grandfather sitting below.
In 2019, Andrew Gosling launched the bottle from the second floor of a block of units, hitting 73-year-old Naziari Sunee on the head and his wife on the arm as they were about to eat dinner.
Mr Sunee died from his injuries and Gosling, 49, pleaded guilty to causing death by a rash act and grievous bodily harm.

Today the Melbourne man, who had been living overseas for just two months at the time of the incident, was sentenced to five and a half years behind bars.
The court heard Gosling had been drinking and the crime was religiously-motivated.
He had been angry about Islamic terror attacks on Australians when he saw a group of Muslims.
Mr and Mrs Sunee were about to sit down for a housewarming meal at their friends' house when Gosling threw the bottle.
"Something snapped and we don't quite know what that was," Gosling's father Ian said.

Mr Sunee, a father-of-four and grandfather-of-nine, leaves behind a devastated family.
"It's hard to accept the loss of our father," Mr Sunee's son Muhammad said.
"He is a family man, a great man - a man who leads by example for us."
Gosling's parents Ian and Pamela watched on as he was sentenced today.
"He has made his decision and we just have to follow things through," his father said outside court.

"He is not that sort of person," his mum added.
"This is totally out of character... We simply don't know what actually happened."
Gosling has already served two and a half years and had hoped to walk free today, but that was not the case.
"He was disappointed... but he has expressed he has faith in the system," his lawyer Gloria James said.
His lawyers plan to appeal to the High Court.
