Allianz Stadium concert cap increase could allow Sydney to host Beyoncé
The New South Wales government is hoping to end the cap on concerts at Sydney's Allianz Stadium, meaning the venue could "potentially" host Beyoncé.
Currently, the SCG Precinct at Moore Park can only hold four concerts each year due to noise complaints from nearby residents, but the government is pushing to raise the cap to 20.
The restriction means Venues NSW has been unable to host international artists including the Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi and Billy Joel at the new $828 million Allianz Stadium.

The cap has also so far been a barrier to Sydney hosting a Beyoncé concert, however, if it is lifted by October – a timeframe the NSW government said is feasible – it could pave the way for a concert from the pop superstar in November.
NSW premier Chris Minns said Sydney was a global city and it should be able to host global events.
"The cap means NSW is missing out on millions of dollars a year in economic activity, and the tourism and jobs it brings with it," Minns said.

"In lifting this concert cap to 20 per year, we could bring in an additional $1.3 billion for NSW businesses over the lifetime of the stadium.

"We need to utilise our entertainment venues to their fullest potential and show to the rest of Australia and the world that NSW is now open for business."
Minister for sport Steve Kamper has asked Venues NSW to undertake planning and environmental applications to modify the restrictions.
A consultation process will open for all local community groups, major operators, landowners and neighbours.
