An alleged Comanchero bikie has been denied bail on a weapons charge amid escalating tensions in the Canberra chapter of the gang.

Investigators from Taskforce Nemesis carried out a targeted operation in the ACT on Tuesday night because of several incidents they believe are linked to factional disputes.

Alexander Miller was arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and ammunition and possession of a drug of dependence.

Police allege they found a sawn-off rifle, ammunition, a balaclava, gloves and black clothing in the back of his silver BMW as well as a sheet and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Magistrate Peter Morrison refused bail and Miller is expected to return to court on July 4.
