High-end liquor targeted in robberies

Police are investigating after thousands of dollars of liquor was snatched in a series of bottle shop robberies in Melbourne.

In one of the most recent incidents, a robber assaulted a staff member before stealing thousands of dollars worth of wine from a Flemington outlet.

CCTV images have been released by police of the thief, who is described as being aged in his late 20s, with a Pacific Islander or Maori appearance.

He was wearing hi-vis gear at the time of the crime, along with a black cap branded with a “FOX” logo.

A further 12 alcohol robberies have taken place in the city’s south-east since August, in suburbs including Malvern, Chadstone and Mulgrave.

It remains unclear whether the same offenders are behind the string of thefts.
