Albo issues the shortest ever press release in relation to bitter rival's retirement

Politicians are known for being verbose and keen on using 10 words when only five would do.

But Federal Opposition infrastructure spokesman Anthony Albanese has decided to take a different tact, today sending out a single word media release in response to the retirement of Sydney Airports Corporation chairman Max Moore-Wilton.

In possibly the shortest media release ever sent, Albo responded to the news with: "good".

The pair are bitter rivals over plans to build a second Sydney Airport.

Mr Albanese has repeatedly accused the outgoing chairman of having a conflict of interest because of his position.

The former federal minister has spoken frequently of the need for a second airport in Sydney’s west to ease congestion.

In 2013 he used a speech to the House of Representatives to accuse Mr Moore-Wilton of having an "enormous conflict of interest".

"As the head of a company that has a monopoly over the existing airport, any fair analysis would conclude that he has an enormous conflict of interest," he told the house.

At the time, Mr Moore-Wilton darted Mr Albanese to repeat the comments outside of Parliament and thereby unprotected by parliamentary privilege.

"If he said it outside Parliament, he would be sued to within an inch of his life," Mr Moore-Wilton said at the time.

He's also branded Mr Albanese a "grub" and "factional hack" over the years.
