Alaskan TV reporter reveals her secret job and drops F-bomb before quitting live on air

A TV newsreader in Alaska has quit live on air in spectacular fashion — reading a report about a medical marijuana business before suddenly revealing she was the owner and saying, "F--- it, I quit".

Charlo Greene's shock announcement followed a story about her business, Alaska Cannabis Club.

Greene told KTVA's viewers she had little choice but to resign and declared that she now planned to focus all her energies on fighting to legalise marijuana in Alaska.

Her stunned colleague was left to make an awkward apology to viewers and the KTVA news director also posted an apology on social media for the "inappropriate language," adding that Greene had been fired.

Greene told the Alaska Dispatch News she had not told KTVA she was going to quit or mention her connection to the marijuana business.

Asked why she decided to quit live on air and use profane language, she said she wanted to call attention to cannabis legalisation. "If I offended anyone, I apologise, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made," she was quoted as saying.

In November, Alaskan will vote on whether to legalise adult use and sale of cannabis in the state.
