Melbourne pharmacy ram raid leaves $300k in damage

Powered by

Thieves have staged a daring ram raid on a Melbourne pharmacy, causing more than $300,000 damage.

CCTV captured the moment the stolen Subaru slammed into the Airport West business on Friday night, leaving debris strewn across the store front.

In the video, a thief can be seen leaping over debris and taking off with boxes of medication.

The raid was over in less than a minute and the pharmacy owner Lachlan Williams suspects the thieves were after pseudoephedrine.

“Funnily enough, he might have stolen some cholesterol tablets,” Mr Williams said.

“Don’t know what he wants with cholesterol tablets.

“I’m still yet to work out what was taken but all the fun stuff I hide for this exact reason.”

The owners have had the business for more than a decade and this is the eighth time they’ve been targeted.

The damage bill is expected to exceed $300,000.

“It’s disappointing you know, because we work our butts off,” Mr Williams said.

Detectives are investigating whether the same offenders were responsible for a number of other break-ins on the same night, including a failed attempt on an IGA supermarket in Rosanna.
