AFL star Eddie Betts watched birth of twins on FaceTime

Adelaide Crows star Eddie Betts is loving the newest additions to his family, even if he had to watch their birth via FaceTime.

The Adelaide forward, 31, had to watch the early birth of his twin girls on his phone in a Melbourne hotel lobby before playing a winning game on Saturday.

Betts uploaded a picture of his new daughters to Instagram yesterday welcoming "Alice and Maggie to this crazy family".

It all started when Betts received an unexpected call from wife Anna Scullie at 9am on Saturday to say her waters had broken.

But, the twins were not due until the end of the month.

It all happened so quickly that Betts had no time to return home.

He watched the birth of his twins on FaceTime about 10am.

“If you haven’t heard yet boys, Anna’s waters have broken,” he told his teammates in a video posted on Twitter.

“It broke and she wanted me to fly back but it happened so quick – 30 minutes.

“So I was on FaceTime in the lobby. I actually had someone come and ask for a photo and I was like ‘stop’.

“I have two beautiful, lovely girls.”

The bundles of joy, whose names have not been revealed yet, are the latest additions to the family, which includes two boys, Billy and Lewis.

Last night, the Adelaide team played against St Kilda, winning by 49 points at Etihad Stadium.

Betts scored his first three goals for the season.
