Toby Greene's father charged with police assault

The father of Greater Western Sydney antagonist Toby Greene has been charged with head butting a female officer while being escorted from the MCG during yesterday's grand final.

Toby Greene's father, Michael, was remanded in custody and is expected to face a hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

The 59-year-old Ferntree Gully man allegedly assaulted the officer after apparently being found alcohol-affected in an MCG toilet just after 5pm.

He was interviewed by police last night.

A spokeswoman for Greater Western Sydney said the club had no comment at this stage.

Police evicted 43 people from yesterday's Grand Final.

The evictions were for a number of offences including assaulting police, drugs offences, ticketing offences and behavioural offences, with 15 people lodged for being drunk in public.

Police also allege that a 21-year-old Brookfield man bit a police officer and a 27-year-old Brookfield man struck a second police officer to the back of the head after they were spoken to by police about their behaviour.

The police officer bitten was taken to hospital for treatment.

Both were charged with assaulting police and were released on bail.
