AFL preliminary final blockbuster marred by fan violence

The blockbuster AFL clash between Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood has been marred by a violent brawl involving fans, security staff and police.

GWS held off a fast finishing Collingwood in a nail-biting preliminary final to secure their first ever grand final appearance.

Twenty people were evicted in relation to drunken behaviour offences, with sixteen of those evicted receiving penalty notices.

The incident started when security attempted to evict six men for bring drunk and disorderly.  9News

Vision obtained exclusively by 9News shows fans brawling with security guards after they attempted to evict six men from the stadium because they were intoxicated.

Police arrested two men, a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old who were involved in the brawl in the MCG's Olympic stand about 6.30pm yesterday.

Police swooped in using capsicum spray after one man poured a drink over a security guard.

Officers had to pin some of the men to the ground as other footy fans stepped in, pushing and shoving officers.

In total, two men were arrested, four were served with penalty notices for riotous behaviour and another two were evicted

Police say their investigation into the matter is ongoing.
