Adelaide woman pleads for thief to return phone containing precious images

An Adelaide woman says she is devastated by the loss of irreplaceable photos of her stillborn son she had on her phone, which was stolen from a supermarket earlier this week.

Someone snatched Fiona Dillon's iPhone 6 from Seaford Meadow Woolworths on Tuesday after she accidently left it at the self-serve checkout.

When Ms Dillon returned to retrieve the phone, it was gone, and with it the only pictures she had of her son Owen.

“It was only five months ago that he died and it is so raw. Every day is really tough so to not have that with me ... it’s devastating. It’s the only thing I have left,” Ms Dillon told The Advertiser.

"The moments that we photographed were my own private and personal moments with Owen and they really are irreplaceable."

Now the 34-year-old midwife and mother is appealing for the thief to return her property – or at least the pictures.

"I don’t really care about the phone, I just want the content," she said, adding that the phone is probably useless to whoever stole it because it is both password protected and locked to Vodafone.

“I don’t understand how the phone is useful to them," she said.

“It’s probably in a bin somewhere but to me it’s priceless.”

The online community has rallied around Ms Dillon since the incident, with her Facebook plea for the phone's return having been shared almost 84,000 times since she posted the status at midnight on Wednesday.
