Adelaide shooting victim retaliates with axe

A man who was shot in the Adelaide Hills has lashed out at his attacker with an axe.

The fight between the two men escalated just after 5pm yesterday, outside a property in Rule Court, Littlehampton. 

Police say a 24-year-old man was standing in the carport when he was shot in the hip. 

He then used an axe to slash the gunman, a 30-year-old Kensington man, in the neck. 

Both men were rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable conditions. 

Police are yet to lay charges because the men involved are not well enough to be interviewed.

Local residents who heard or saw the incident have been asked to come forward with information. 

Police said the two men are known to each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
