Adelaide police swoop after tracking down stolen $200,000 car

A 38-year-old Craigmore man has been charged with a string of offences after he allegedly stole a stolen car worth $200,000.

Police allege the man pinched the limited-edition Commodore from a city business Monday.

Yesterday, a police helicopter managed to track the car to a Paralowie home, where a 17-year-old passenger was arrested.

But the car’s 38-year-old driver fled, smashing through a fence in his haste to escape police.

The man was later arrested at a block of units in Day Court, Ingle Farm, around 7.30pm.

“Heaps of cops came in and had someone down on the ground – knee on the back of his neck,” resident Geoff Williams told 9NEWS. 

During the arrest, a police vehicle struck 67-year-old resident Andy’s ute. No one was injured.

“There was a car coming straight at me with no driver,” Andy recalled.

“I had to get out of the way real quick.”

The 38-year-old has been charged with numerous offences, including engaging in a police pursuit, driving dangerously and theft.

He remains in custody and will face court on Monday.
