Hunt for Adelaide hit-run driver who rammed car into woman's bedroom

An Adelaide woman has told of the moment an out-of-control car came crashing into her bedroom while she slept.

Smithfield woman Edda Smyth says she is lucky to be alive.

"I was asleep. Next thing I heard like a bomb go off and I pulled the blanket over my head because I heard glassing smashing," she said.

Her son Timothy Smyth was woken by the loud noise about 2am on Sunday.

"I jumped into my mum's room and there was a car stuck in a house!" he told 9News.

Blinded by the headlights of the reversing car, Edda and Tim scrambled to the front window of the Warooka Crescent home.

"We looked out the window and we saw the bloke was trying to reverse the car - it was stuck under the house," said Edda.

Tim said the driver reversed out and then took off up the road.

Their neighbours were also woken by the ruckus.

"They came running along yelling 'Oi! Oi! Oi!', trying to stop him but no, he took off," said Edda.

Edda is thankful her prized Elvis Presley collection wasn't damaged.

"I think I'm very lucky, oh my god I think I'm very lucky… I only just turned sixty!," she said.

Police continue to hunt the hit-and-run driver.
