Firefighters battle two blazes in Adelaide

Two homes have been badly damaged in separate fires in Adelaide overnight.

On Clarence Street in West Croydon at 9.30pm a young boy named Gino called triple-0 after a fire started spreading in his home and engulfed a car in the carport.

Gino's family escaped the home uninjured however a five-month-old dog named Bobby was trapped in the backyard. Police rescued Bobby and reunited him with his owners.

The cause is still being investigated.

And just before 8pm on Rousillion Promenade at Old Reynella a fire broke out and quickly spread to the roof of another home.

A man who lives at the home got out by himself but suffered smoke inhalation and a cut to his head.

Fire crews stopped the blaze spreading to nearby homes. However there was extensive damage to the home. A collection of model aeroplanes in the house was also destroyed.

The cause is still being investigated.
