Adelaide Hills cheeses recalled

An Adelaide Hills cheese company has recalled three products after testing found E.coli levels above permitted limits.

SA Health director of food safety Fay Jenkins says the recall is a precautionary measure and there have been no reports of anyone becoming ill after eating the cheeses.

The products recalled are the 110g Charleston Jersey Brie, the random weight Charleston Jersey Brie and the Capricorn Brie produced by the Woodside Cheese Wrights company.

All have best before dates of May 18 or May 26.

Dr Jenkins said the higher than allowed levels of E.coli in the three products were detected during routine tests.

Other Woodside products were also tested and cleared.

"We have no evidence that the form of E.Coli present was pathogenic or that anybody has become ill as a consequence of eating the products," she said.

"However, as a precaution, anyone who has purchased these products should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or throw them away."

Dr Jenkins said the company was co-operating fully with SA Health.
