Crows chief says footy club is 'good place to have a tragedy' as teammates, staff come together

Adelaide Crows CEO Andrew Fagan says club players, staff and officials are all looking after each other after the shocking death of coach Phil Walsh yesterday morning.

The club and its supporters are still reeling from the incident, which saw Walsh allegedly murdered by his son Cy, who is heavily sedated in hospital.

Walsh's wife Meredith is in hospital with a leg wound while their daughter expected to return to Australia this afternoon from a trip to America.

Mr Fagan told Weekend TODAY the Crows squad was doing it "pretty tough" but they had support.

"A good place to have a tragedy is a footy club," he said.

"We're built to rally around people, we've got great support structures in place and you've got that sense of team."

Mr Fagan said he had spoken to Walsh's wife yesterday morning.

"Obviously she's doing it tough and I offered her all the support we could give as a footy club and I'll see her again this afternoon and reiterate that," he said.

"Everyone's hurting in their own way."
