Actor Judith McGrath dies aged 70

Australian actor Judith McGrath has died aged 70.

McGrath was known for her work in some of the country's premier television shows, including All Saints, Prisoner, A Country Practice and Neighbours .

She is known for her Logie-nominated role playing Yvonne 'Von' Ryan in All Saints, alongside Georgie Parker, and was the only original cast member to star in all 12 seasons of the show - from 1998 to 2009.

McGrath also played Deputy Governor Colleen Powell in the cult series Prisoner, and became a leading character in 1981. 

She also had guest roles on Neighbours, The Flying Doctors and Round the Twist, and was a regular on A Country Practice from 1992 to 1993. 

Most recently, McGrath appeared as Maria Crawley in Winners & Losers.

She started her acting career on stage with Brisbane Arts Theatre. 

The circumstances surrounding her death yesterday are not yet known.

Fans have paid tribute to the actor on social media, saying she has "gone too soon" and remembering her brilliant sense of humour.
