Murder suspect arrested in Canberra

A man has been arrested over the suspicious death of a 61-year-old Canberra man.

But the 45-year-old from Symonston has yet to be charged.

Police say he is assisting with their homicide investigation.

Officers were called to a home in Wanniassa on Tuesday evening for a welfare check, and after forcing their way inside found the 61-year-old man dead.

A 68-year-old invalid woman was found uninjured in a bedroom, and was taken to hospital for observation.

Forensics investigators are examining the crime scene.
