Man dies on Canberra construction site

A man has died on a construction site in Canberra's north.

Police said they were alerted to the incident at 6.40pm yesterday after reports a crane had tipped over.

There, they discovered a man had died.

It is not yet clear how the incident occurred and an investigation is now underway.

The Canberra Times has reported a large container with chains attached could also be seen on its side next to the tipped over crane.

The construction site is part of a $139 million dollar development for the University of Canberra public hospital at Bruce.
