Fireworks ignite Canberra house fire

Fireworks stored in the ceiling of a Canberra home have ignited in hot weather and set the house on fire.

ACT Fire and Rescue are extinguishing a blaze at a Mawson home on Sunday afternoon as the mercury reached a top of 38C.

The fire is under control but continues to smoulder.

The home's resident alerted authorities and was evacuated but is now being assessed by paramedics.

No one was injured.
