ACT Labor names sixth minister

ACT Labor has elected MLA Yvette Berry as its sixth minister in government.

Ms Berry, a former union official, was elected on Monday following a caucus meeting.

She will fill the ministry vacancy caused by the resignation of chief minister Katy Gallagher.

Ms Gallagher is seeking to fill a Senate vacancy created by the retirement of Senator Kate Lundy, who announced in November she would not be re-contesting her seat at the next election.

Labor will announce portfolio responsibilities for Ms Berry and five other ministers on Tuesday.
