Accused machete murderer pleads not guilty

A man accused of murdering a personal trainer with a machete outside a party in Perth's western suburbs has pleaded not guilty.

Abraham Keung Cross, 36, appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via videolink from prison on Wednesday, charged with killing 19-year-old Callum Pinner outside a party in Doubleview on October 6 last year.

He was also charged with the unlawful wounding of another man.

Because a large number of young witnesses are expected to give evidence, the trial has been set down for five weeks, starting on February 24 next year.

Cross was remanded in custody.
