ABUSE INQUIRY TO LOOK AT SALVOS HOMES IN THREE STATES

* EDEN PARK (Adelaide Hills) - operated from 1900 to 1982.

Evidence will come from three former residents who will tell how they were physically and sexually abused by older boys and staff members.

* BOX HILL (Brunswick in Melbourne) - operated from 1897 to 1984.

Six former residents will give evidence of how they were sexually and physically abused during their time there. They will tell of the effect of that abuse and their experiences in seeking compensation and counselling.

* BAYSWATER (Victoria) - operated from 1897 to 1980

Former residents will give evidence related to the physical and sexual abuse by employees at the home. The oversight by the Victorian government will also be examined.

* NEDLANDS (WA) - operated from 1918 to 1991

The commission will hear from one girl who lived at the home from 1969 when she was 11 years old. Now 57, she will tell how she was abused by a staff member, by a boy and by one of her brothers.
