Abuse inquiry heads to Canberra

ACT residents with stories of institutional child abuse are being invited to attend the royal commission when it heads to the national capital.

Public hearings will be held over two weeks in Canberra from June 10.

The hearings will focus on the response of the Marist Brothers to allegations of child sexual abuse in ACT, NSW and Queensland schools, in particular how it dealt with abuse claims against Brother John Chute and former Brother "ZA".

People or organisations who want their stories heard, or who want to know more about the royal commission, are invited to lodge a written application to appear at the hearing by May 30.
