Abuse commission sets indigenous deadline

Indigenous Australians who have survived institutional child sex abuse have until late September to register with the royal commission if they want a private session to tell their story.

Justice Peter McClellan said there is high demand for private sessions across the country and in April the commission clocked up 5000, with 1500 people still waiting.

So far 561 Aboriginal people have had a private session and 293 are waiting for one.
