Abbott welcomes clean energy 'progress'

Former prime minister Tony Abbott is pleased to see the clean energy target has been "definitively dropped" by the Turnbull government.

Mr Abbott, who reportedly called for a "political discussion" about the new energy policy in the coalition party room on Tuesday, later took to social media to welcome progress at the gathering.

"The Clean Energy Target has been definitively dropped," he tweeted.
