Abbott lifts Defence pay offer

The Abbott government wants a more generous pay rise for Defence personnel.

Defence Minister Kevin Andrews says the Defence Tribunal will be asked to lift last year's below inflation 1.5 per cent offer to 2 per cent.

The government will be hoping the move satisfies crossbench senator Jacqui Lambie, who has vowed to vote against all government legislation until a more generous pay rise was put on the table.
