Reports of damage at Adelaide Oval following A-League Grand Final

Adelaide United’s 3-1 victory in the A-League Grand Final is a bittersweet win for some fans, after reports that parts of the Adelaide Oval was damaged by members of the Western Sydney Wanderers crowd.

A photo posted to the Western Sydney Wanderers FC Facebook page reportedly shows flattened chairs inside the stadium following the match last night.  

“Are you as a club going to foot the bill for the destruction your scumbag supporters left in our great stadium. Absolute disgrace”, the photo is captioned.

The post has since been liked more than 1,800 times, and has generated more than 200 shares.

Many users have taken to Facebook to express their disdain.

“Keep the game away from the beautiful oval… no need for that rubbish,” one user wrote.

“They should make them pay for the damages… soccer ferals,” another commented.

Adelaide Oval commercial operations manager Darren Chandler told the Adelaide Advertiser the damage by caused by some members of the crowd was “not ideal”.

He said responsibility for the seating will come from Football Federation Australia, which hired the stadium, but that it would be fixed before this weekend’s AFL match.

50,000 fans from both sides flocked to Adelaide over for Adelaide United’s win.

Striker Bruce Djite told the TODAY Show the win was “fitting and deserving” for the club.
